Bible Reading: 2 Kings 17, 18; John 3:19-36
“He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now”
– 1 John 2:9 (KJV)
Darkness does not want light at all cost, however, when little light comes into where thick darkness is occupying immediately the darkness shall give way. A lot of professing Christians in today’s world are actually good at quoting some light related verses of the Scripture yet they are far from living out the same light in reality. Some could even get to the level of reciting off-hand the love passage in the Scripture, yet, the bowel of love in them has completely dried off.
Jesus Christ is the light of the world as we have the scriptural evidence: “And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” – John 3:19 (KJV). No one claims that he belongs to the light without any proof to the world. Christ, as the light, dispels every activity of darkness at His appearance. He however, does not want us to do less.
However, rather than following Christ whose example of being light is seen in way of love demonstration, it is the other side we are witnessing in the body of Christ today. Hatred, which has resulted into unhealthy rivalry and in some other places, has brought about killing of innocent souls. Are you like that? Does your affinity with light, which the Christ produces continually prove which the people out there can see and would cause the outsiders to come to the knowledge of Christ? The level of the hatred does not depict that we have met the Lord. If you have hatred for the Light (Christ) then, you shall in no doubt have hatred towards the brethren. The only proof that you are a light carrier is to demonstrate love to the people of God. Get rid of all traces of hatred inside you now. Empty all at the foot of the cross.
Prayer: My Father, help me to show love to the people around me as Christ would.
