Bible Reading: Psalms 7-9; Acts 18
“For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city” – Acts 18:10 (KJV).
The great commission given to the disciples of Jesus is to preach the good news to every part of the world (Matthew 28:19-20). From this Word God intend to save as many who would believe. God does not want any to perish but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
As the Creator, He created every person or thing for a reason. Man was created to bring glory to God. He also has a plan for every man to fulfil his/her destiny. However, not all men are aware of this plan, but through the preaching of the gospel, men are drawn towards God and the Kingdom. Like He told Paul, He has much people in every city.
God has much people even in the city where you reside and He desires none of them perish, but to attain repentance. Remember, there is joy in heaven when a soul is saved (Luke 13:8). They know the will of God in heaven, so each time it is done, there is joy there. As we contribute to sowing heavenly joy, joy becomes our portion for whatever a man sows, that will he reap (Galatians 6:7).
As we do our part in winning souls, God goes with us (Mark 16:20), and He becomes our defense, like He promised Paul in today’s verse. And when God becomes your defense, no man can defeat you. Why not start now, if you have not, by talking to those in your neighbourhood.
Action Point: Start by talking to at least one person in your compound or street about Jesus.
