BIBLE READING: PROVERBS 17, 18,19; 2 CORINTHIANS 6
“Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end” Proverb 19:20 (KJV)
Anyone who wants to know God and walk closely with Him must be ready to obey instructions. He is a God of order and His words serve as our instruction manual for living. Many people who exist upon the face of the earth have their own ideals about life, however only the purpose of God prevails.
God instructed Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and preach against it but he despised the word of God and headed for Tarshish (Jonah 1:2-3), a Singular act that caused him to be in the belly of a fish for three days and three nights. Same is applicable to anyone who refuses instruction, it leads to destruction. The doorway to wisdom is giving heed to the counsel of God.
Hear Apostle Paul’s instruction, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not” 1 Corinthians 10:23 (KJV).
There are times in your life when you’ll love to chart your own course outside the will of God just like Saul (1 Samuel 15:1-22), who disobeyed Gods Instruction. God instructed through Samuel the prophet that Israel spare none but completely annihilate the Amalekites and all their livestock. But Saul kept alive Agag, the king of Amalek and the best livestock found in the land. As a consequence of His disobedience, Saul lost the throne of Israel.
When you are given spiritual instructions, it’s so important that you not only understand them, but also act on them.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to give heed to your instructions all the days of my life.
