TOPIC: THE WILL OF GOD.
Bible Reading: Ezekiel 4-6: Hebrews 10:1-19
“Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all”. Hebrews 10: 9-10 (KJV)
It is God’s ordained will to ransom humanity right from the garden of Eden when man lost his authority to the devil through disobedience to God’s instruction. That will was established by divine pronouncement which has been echoed throughout all dispensations by prophecy. Even during the dispensation of the Law it was made clear that the establishment of the testament was a mere preparatory to the establishment of the new testament which is the will of God. The Psalmist stated it very vividly when he spoke in personification of Christ and said in Psalm 40:6-8(NKJV) “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering you did not require, Then I said “Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me, I delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is within my heart”.
From this scripture and other prophecies concerning Christ and His redemption work, it is clear that Jesus Christ was packaged from the foundation of the world to bring about God’s will for humanity. This was that will of God Jesus Christ surrendered to at Gethsemane, “And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible for you’ Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will” Mark14:36(NKJV). Jesus Christ our Saviour absolutely surrendered to the WILL of God to secure for us redemption. Apostle Paul stated clearly this will of God in Romans 3:24-26(NKJV), “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God set forth to be a propitiation by His blood through faith to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God has passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” It is the fulfilment of this will of God in Christ Jesus that qualified us to be partakers of inheritance of the saint in the light (Colossians 1:12). It is the fulfilment of this Divine will that brought about the exchange of our dirty and polluted life for the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). The fulfilment of God’s will in Christ gave us the place of sonship in God. We became beneficiaries of the exceeding great and precious promises through which we became partakers of the divine nature as a result of the fulfilment of the will of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God’s will is all encompassing and all embracing. This is why Apostle Peter said in 2 Peter 1:3 “As His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” Talking about what the fulfilment of this will God have secured for us the bible says in Ephesians 1:3(NKJV), “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ.*
My dear reader it pays to serve God in truth and in spirit. It pays to be completely surrendered to Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. On earth here you are guaranteed divine favour and protection. Don’t perish as a sinner or a church goer. The most terrible evil you can do to yourself is to reject God’s will for you which is in Christ Jesus. Arise today and jettison the devil and his evil ways and handover your life to Christ.
Prayer: O God my Father, thank you for giving me the opportunity to accept your will.
