Bible Reading: Psalm 113:1- 9
“He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill. That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people” – Psalm 113:7(KJV)
Our God is the grand master in changing people’s status. All over the scriptures, instances abounds where God has lifted people from grass to grace. God specializes in elevating the oppressed, the poor and needy to show forth his glory among the living. Only Him does wondrous things: “Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things” – Psalm 72:18(KJV). Many examples abound in the scriptures of persons whose lives were turned around by God. God raises the poor from the dust of poverty to a place of glory and honour. We have the case of David who was confined to the grazing field and was almost forgotten until God’s word brought him out. By the anointing upon his life he was elevated to an army general at the age of seventeen years, and navigating through one of the deadliest persecution and attempts on his life, he mounted the throne of Israel at the age of thirty years. By the anointing God catapulted young ruddy looking David to the throne.
By the revelation of his word the slave boy, Joseph, was elevated from slavery and imprisonment to honour and dignity. Without any election, Joseph,a foreigner in Egypt, overnight was lifted to the position of the Prime Minister of Egypt. “Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him. The king sent for him and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. He made him lord of his house, even the ruler of his substance.” God will always provide an avenue through which rejected and oppressed persons will encounter destiny and a change of status. God indeed raises the poor from the dust and the needy from the dunghill.
What of Gideon, who is the smallest in the poorest family in Manasseh? He came in contact with the Almighty and was transformed into a warrior who brought victory to Israel. God chose the basest men to be the men of David. Out of a celebrated barren woman God brought forth one of the greatest prophet in Israel – Samuel. Though Jesus Christ was from the root of David, he came into the world from a carpenter’s home that could not afford paying for a decent place to shelter his spouse who was due to deliver. Jesus Christ the King of Glory was born in a manger. He grew to become the deliverer of humanity. What a great God. As a child of God don’t look down on yourself because of your present position for that is not God’s ordained place for you. By redemption you have a glorious destiny. Your current state is to add up the story of your glorious and enviable destiny. David’s great grandmother was a gentile from Moab who was of very low status. The ways of our God is past finding out. He is the one that sits at the center of the earth and rules in the kingdom of men. Our today’s scripture is expected to encourage and give us hope. No genuine child of God is permitted to live constantly in want and deprivation. By redemption Christ has purchased for us, power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing.
My dear friend, a life in Christ is mandated to prosper in every area. Therefore, I speak to you in the name of Jesus, arise and take your appropriate place in Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Father, My trust is in your ability to elevate me to enviable heights.
