“But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” – 2 Timothy 1:10(KJV).
The purpose and grace given to us by Christ Jesus by which we are called into a holy calling existed before the world began. It is that divine purpose and grace that became manifested by the appearing of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who by his death at the cross abolished death. He did not only abolished death, He through the instrumentality of the gospel brought life and immortality to light. The gospel, which is the word of God, is the channel through which faith in the finished work of Christ brings an individual into the sonship of God. The Holy Spirit through the preaching of the gospel and acceptance by faith indwells in a person and quickens the dead spirit of man into a lively being thereby imparting him with eternal life (divine nature). This is illustrated further in 2 Peter 1:4(KJV), “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is the world through lust”. These exceeding great and precious promises is the Word of God that comes in and infuses us with divine nature, being made sons to the Most High God. God is immortal, therefore His sons can’t be anything less.
We carry the gene of immortality via redemption as stated in John 6:51(KJV), “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for life of the world”. Jesus Christ is the word of God and the bread of life. This timely and powerful truth is communicated through the preaching of the gospel. The abolishment of death was accomplished at Calvary and the scripture has this to say; “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” – 1 Corinthians 15: 55-56(KJV), Hosea 13:14(KJV). The gates and everlasting doors of the grave opened for the first time when Jesus Christ died and resurrected. No one has ever gone to the grave and come back opening the gates and everlasting doors that has been closed. In order to ransom us from the power of the grave and redeem us from death, Christ has to open the gates and everlasting doors of the grave (sheol). This accomplishment is recorded in Psalm 24:7-10 where Jesus Christ by virtue of his being the LORD of hosts commanded the opening of the gates and everlasting doors of the grave and resurrected to justify our inclusion as the sons of God.
Wow! This is the truth of the gospel we preach. The knowledge of this truth sets you free from the intimidation and evil arrows of the enemy. It is on this premise I invite the reader of this piece to urgently surrender his life to Christ and command dominion here on earth and gain heaven eventually.
Prayer: Father thank you for given me victory on all sides. Thank you for ransoming me from the power of death.
