Bible Reading: Ezra 3. 2 Timothy 1:1-10
“So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off” – Ezra 3:13 (KJV).
God is not the author of confusion; his will and commandment are well spelt out and unambiguous. The confusion we see today is as a result of human factors. People often bring their sentiments, emotions and traditions into biblical interpretation thus causing doctrinal confusion. People see things differently as a result of their backgrounds and personalities and these often come into play in building doctrines and interpretation of the scriptures.
We know in part, see in part and we prophesy in part. Sometimes, our imperfection comes to play in our interpretation of scriptures and God’s dealings; this explains why we need to be open and sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
The loud shout in prayer and preaching does not guarantee that one is right. Much of the noise and excitement could be carnal traits and mere display of self and human emotions. Quietness or pious lifestyle or attitude is not always a proof of meekness or guarantee of holiness or humility. It could be timidity, mediocrity or mere acting which in itself is subtle pride.
Today, more than ever in church age, there is so much confusion rising from so many strange moves in the church today. Ritualistic activities and human manipulation in the name of prophetic moves and judgmental prayers. People who have issues and the gullible in search for solution to life threatening issues are being deceived. Today more than ever, we see shout of joy and excitement and voice of weeping. In Ezra’s time, it was a generational shift, today; it is sign of the end-time. Men have become lovers of themselves more than lovers of God.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me to always walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.
