…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 14/05/2020

Bible Reading: 2 Kings 19, 20, 21; John 4:1-27

“The LORD hear thee in the days of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary and strengthen thee out of Zion. Remember all thy offerings and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counsel” – Psalm 20:1-4 (KJV)

It is a common saying that prayer changes things and the evidences abound in the Scripture of people who are beneficiaries of this eternal truth. A saying goes, whatever is good needs prayer and whatever seems not okay equally needs prayers. Many people across the world have held the hand of God in the realm of prayer and this has produced obvious results in the glare of the entire world. Saint Augustine says, “What can be more excellent than prayer; what is more profitable to our life; what is sweeter to our souls; what is more sublime in the course of our whole life, than the practice of prayer.”

Hezekiah, the king, understood this principle of prayer which could enter into the sanctuary of heaven and produce result. Thus, when the message came to him by a renowned prophet in the land, Isaiah, he did not stand before Isaiah babbling or engaged in unproductive argument rather he shut himself in and as if God did not remember how he had walked before him, he called the attention of God to it and God heard him. Hear the Scripture account: “And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him saying, [5] Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer. I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go into the house of the Lord” – 2 Kings 20:4-5 (KJV)

Friends, if you are not going to give up praying, shedding tears over that seemingly hopeless situation, God shall hear you and you shall soon go to the house of the Lord to testify to His goodness over that matter. You can reverse the irreversible on your knees!

Prayer: Father, help me never to give up in the place of prayer no matter the challenge.
