Bible Reading: 2 Kings 19,20,21; John 4:1-27
‘’And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD” 1 Kings 19:14 (KJV)
In life we will face challenges; they may come from anywhere, could be from within your trusted company or expectedly, from outside. Since challenges are inevitable, we must look at the ways to deal with them. One sure way of dealing with any issue of concern is to first take it to God. Reason is that immediately you get news of these issues, your peace would naturally be attacked, but God’s word said, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee” Isaiah 26:3 (KJV).
King Hezekiah gave us a path to follow in today’s bible reading. When a King with a bigger army threatened to overrun him, he first went to God in line with the word of God which says, “Remember the LORD in everything you do, and He will show you the right way” Proverbs 3:6 (GOODNEWS). God knows what you are facing but still wants you to tell Him. Without this you won’t get the next instruction on what to do. Hezekiah followed all protocols and received word from God through the prophet of God in the country, Amoz. God does wonders without number; the size of the army of the opposition does not matter. He does what He wants done.
God has not changed. He still defends His people. King David was aware of this and said, “as the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever” Psalm 125:3 (KJV) .David always takes all his challenges to God. No wonder he never lost a battle. God told Hezekiah, “I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake” 2 Kings 19:34 (KJV). God’s angel went out that night and killed one hundred and eighty-five thousand Assyrians soldiers. True to His word (2 Kings 19:32-34), the Assyrians did not step foot into Judah.
Just follow the path of Hezekiah and Judah and men of God in the past who were challenged and followed God’s path. Cast all your cares before Him and let Him show you what next to do in any situation of concern.
Action Plan: Write out all issue of concern, spread the sheet before God and ask Him for what next to do.
