Bible reading: 2 Kings 9-11; John 5:1-25
Memory verse: “Afterwards Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worst thing come unto thee” John 5:14 (KJV)
Health is needed to fulfill God’s plan and purpose for your life. Whenever health challenges come, chances of becoming that which a person is created to be tend to be low. However, a lot of people, even in the midst of afflictions still battle to make impact in their lives before leaving. But why so much health challenges?
The devil once told the Almighty God about man in Job 2:4-5 (KJV), “Skin for skin” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. [5] But stretch out your hand and strike his bones and his flesh, and he will surely curse you to your face.” Satan knows the importance of health that while we live in sound health the chances of worshipping God fully is very high as Job did. So he continues to buffet man with sickness and diseases.
Remember the woman with the spirit of infirmity of eighteen years, which was bent and could not lift herself up. After healing her, Jesus told the ruler of the synagogue who had criticized him for healing the woman on a Sabbath day, in Luke 13:16 (KJV), “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” Satan held her bound such that no doctor in the world could heal her. Only Jesus could.
Sadly, despite Satan working by the side to bring many into sickness and ill health, others voluntarily consent to making themselves prey to Satan’s plan by deliberately sinning against their bodies. The man in today’s bible reading was one of such persons. But thank God he encountered Jesus who forgives sins unconditionally but with a warning, “Afterwards Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worst thing come unto thee” John 5:14 (KJV)
Sin will bring Satan closer to you than you are prepared for. He comes in to steal, kill, and destroy that which God gives, especially health. But it is up to you to partner with God in the preservation of your health by staying away from sin and cleaving unto Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Father, thank You for setting a hedge around me, especially in my health.
