Bible Reading: Ps. 89 & 90; Romans 14
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom” – Psalm 90:12 (KJV).
Our lifespan on this earth, being an average of seventy to eighty years (v 90:10), is very short compared with eternity. We should pray that God should help us understand and remember that our lives are too short so that we will make wise use of each day He gives us.
This life should be a preparation for the next life – where we will spend eternity. That means that we should determine what God wants to accomplish with our lives and make sure we invest our time in things that would benefit His Kingdom and have eternal effect in people’s lives. When our time on earth is done, God will judge us on how we lived or did not in relation to Him and His purposes.
For this reason, we must pray for a heart of wisdom to make good choices, an appropriate fear of God (v.11) that will inspire us to avoid sinful behavoiur and God’s favour in our lives and in our work for Him (vv. 13-17).
Good morning
Prayer: Father, I request of you to put in me the fear of you that will guide me through life.
