Bible Reading: Psalm 88 & 90; Romans 14
“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God” Romans 14:12 (NKJV)
The very thought of man giving account to God someday should make him think before he does anything. That we will give account to God goes to show that the life we live is not ours; God gave us breath and a purpose to live for. All is to bring glory to His Holy name. This alone should make us be aware of our individual responsibility to God first before anything we do or don’t do. If we prioritize God in our thoughts, in every thing we do and how we must give account, man would act and behave more responsibly.
Paul says that God will render to every man according to His deeds (Romans 2:6). Every responsible person will stand before Him to render an account. Every man is included here; friends, spouse, parents, relatives, neighbours, your leaders, fellow workers, you. Jesus said that we shall give account of every idle word that we speak and shall be judged by them (Matthew 12:36-37). How ready are you for this?
Thank God for Jesus who came to show us an example of how a man should live. Bless God for fathers of old and the apostles, who followed after God with all their heart, showing us an example to follow. These all let us know that the way we talk, act, and live must be after the commands of God in His Word. Leading a life with God as a priority gives you peace of mind.
King Solomon summed it up in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV), “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Keep His commands and follow the example set by His Son, Jesus, and you will be at peace all your life.
