…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Proverbs 25-27; 2 Corinthians 6

Memory verse: “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27:1 (KJV)

There are many reasons why the creator of the heavens and earth is God. One of which is that He is the only one who knows tomorrow. Even Jesus acknowledged there is something only the Father knows that even He, Jesus doesn’t know (Matthew 24:36). It is wisdom to cling steadfastly to Him and He will reveal your tomorrow to you directing you daily on how to go about life.

Most times we get up in the morning and start making plans without even consulting the One who makes tomorrow. As far as tomorrow is concerned the bible says in Proverbs 19:21(NLT), “You can make many plans, but the LORD’S purpose will prevail.” From this scripture it is a waste to plan your tomorrow without God let alone boasting about it. He already has something lined up. Anything you do outside His plan for you is a waste. No wonder today’s memory verse cautions, “Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth” Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV).

No man knows what tomorrow hold, so we should have a humble attitude towards tomorrow, as James 4:13-15 (NKJV) tells us, “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; [14]whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. [15] Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” Apostle James is not ruling out wise planning for the future, only one’s overconfident sense of ability to control the future—and no one can presume on God’s future (Proverbs 19:21).

If you do not know how your today will end why do you boast about tomorrow? The rich fool boasted of living in pleasure for many years to come but God ended his life that night because he did not put God in the picture (Luke 12:16-21). Learn to depend on God. Acknowledge Him in everything you say, do or plan. Remember, without Him you can do nothing.

Prayer: Father, I commit my today, tomorrow and years to come into Your mighty Hand, help me to always acknowledge You in everything in Jesus name.

Some of the things that people teach as Christian doctrines are traditions of men and doctrines of the devil. For doctrine to be classified as sound,…
