Bible reading in one year: Isaiah 43 & 44; 1 Thessalonians 2
“I will pour water upon on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing upon your descendants ………..One will say I belong to the LORD…” – Isaiah 44: 3-5 (NIV).
Although Israel was usually a spiritually rebellious nation in Isaiah’s time, Isaiah prophesied that the day would come when the Holy Spirit would be poured out on a future generation. This prophesy was partially fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. The outpouring of God’s Spirit upon His people is associated with spiritual refreshment, renewal, restoration, blessing and growth.
One of the obvious results of the Spirit being poured out upon individuals is their bold testimony that they belong to the Lord. The Spirit is God’s seal upon our lives (2 Cor. 1:22). The “seal” confirms that we are the sons of God and guarantees our place in God’s Kingdom. The Spirit also creates in us the confidence that we have all the rights and privileges of God’s Children.
