Bible Reading: Psalm 82:1-8
“Defend the poor and the fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and the needy. Deliver the poor and the needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked” – Psalm 82:3-4(KJV).
Our God is a God of justice. No one should toil with this eternal truth. Sometimes when it appears that the wicked people are having their way and the cause of the poor is being denied, it does not in any way mean that God is not concerned. He is an impartial God and He does not work according to the timing of man.
Our world is currently receiving the blow of the corrupt judges no doubt. Just like what was happening in the days of the Psalmist when God saw the way and manner with which judgement was being dispensed, which was not in consonance with what He had conceived in His mind. These judges were saddled with responsibility of defending the rights of the poor and needy but they never pursued and devoted their lives to doing that.
This ungodly act by the judges made God to step into the situation to deliver His people from their hands. These judges, possibly, have forgotten their status of being mere mortals, and have a day when surely they will expire and only the Righteous Judge shall remain.
Have you also been involved in a situation where you have to stand for the poor- your gateman, driver, housemaid, office assistant etc.? How do you always handle it? Is it to the satisfaction of God who has given you that position to hold forth for him or to sponsor your ego? Beware, it is dangerous. May God help you to stand well for Him in Jesus name.
Prayer: Eternal Father, judge every form of wickedness in our land and fight the cause of the poor in Jesus name.
