“Say not thou, what is the cause that the former days were better than these? For thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this” – Ecclesiastes 7:10 (KJV).
There are times in life when it seems as though one is going backward instead of moving forward. Life could be retrogressive. A situation where it looks like one is going back instead of making progress. At such times one could be tempted to conclude that the former days are better than the present. Such a hasty conclusion could be as a result of momentary challenges that is only but a phase in the journey to success.
Another position life could assume is stagnation where one is neither going backward nor moving forward in life. At such a time, it is like one is at the same spot marking time from day to day or even year after year. The children of Israel faced this frustrating phase of life in their journey to the promise land. They compass mount Seir and Horeb many days not making progress. The Lord spake unto them saying, “ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward” – Deuteronomy 2:3 (KJV). Such stagnation often leads to frustration and discouragement.
There is yet another position that the journey of life could assume: a position of satisfactory progress. This is God’s will for us. His thoughts for us are thoughts of good and not of evil to bring us to an expected end. God cannot abandon us half way. “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” – Proverb 4:18 (KJV).
It does not matter how the situation looks presently, your best days are not behind you. Forget the past and forge ahead with life. Past success can be exceeded, past victories can be improved. It may appear as though your yesterday is better and brighter than your today because of your present predicament or trials, but know for sure, it is only a phase and you are getting over it to emerge a champion. In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Christ that strengthens us. Press forward in life and reach out for the glory ahead of you. Your best days are coming! They are not behind you but before you. Never put your life on reverse gear. Engage the gear and move ahead, only use the rear mirror in retrospect to see reasons to thank God and to gather momentum to forge ahead with vigour and faith. Look ahead like Jesus for the glory set before you.
You will surely emerge a champion, more than conqueror. See you at the top!!!
PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes to see the glory ahead in Jesus name.
