Bible Reading: Leviticus 17&18, Matthew 27: 23-44.
“Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children” – Matthew 27:25 (KJV).
One can attract curses on the children by one’s words and actions. Curses could be so potent in the life of any man who is not under the covering of Christ. A curse is a satanic anointing that frustrates the victim, creating hardship, afflictions and frustration. A person operating under a curse could be toiling without anything to show for his toiling. Such curse will close the doors of favour and blessings. Curses bring misfortune and hardship to the victim.
There are many ways one can come under a curse. A curse can be self inflicted by ones words or actions. Curses could be inflicted on a person by other people. A person can come under a curse by breaking covenants or violating laws and rules binding on him. In the above scenario, the children of Israel pronounced curse upon themselves and upon their children thus making the curse genetic and generational. The result is that the children yet unborn will be subjected to and inflicted with the curse for no fault of theirs because of their parents’ sin. Ignorance of such curse or negligence of it cannot exempt the children from its effects.
Many people today are operating under curse. Many observe some invisible strange forces hindering their lives and some misfortune in their lives that they cannot explain. They labour and strive like others but fail to make headway or progress in life. For some, they just can’t hustle like others; they appear so sloughtful, lacking the needed drive to push through in life. For some, there seem to be a vicious cycle of disappointment, misfortune or near-success syndrome. For some, inexplicable happenings that seem to suggest strange evil hands blocking their destiny.
Curses are real but there is freedom in Christ Jesus. The blood of Jesus and his redemptive work on the cross paid for all forms of human suffering and captivity. The new birth and faith in the finished work of Christ brings deliverance to mankind. Jesus became a curse for us so we can enjoy the blessings of Abraham.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for freeing me from curses.
