Bible Reading: Psalm 83
“For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee” – Psalm 83:5(KJV).
All through the ages man has consulted together under the supervision of Satan to thwart the will of God. God’s will on earth is executed through man. We had the case of Nimrod, the first empire builder, who led a very strong revolt of building the tower of Babel. His efforts and plan was disappointed by God. Satan has always induced man into insurrection against God. When God’s plan and will for a nation is being threatened by satanic consortium and advocacy, it is a revolt against God. Hear what the Psalmist said in Psalm 2: 2-3(KJV), “The kings of the earth set themselves together, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us”. Breaking their bands asunder and casting away their cords from us connotes putting aside God’s divine plan and purpose for both individuals and nations. However, the bible calls such attempts and efforts ‘a vain thing’ (Psalm 2:1).
Israel is a nation set on a course by divine agenda and an attempt to thwart that by consenting together is an evil confederacy that must be destroyed by God. This is so because only the counsel of God must stand. The word of God gives assurance of the immutability of divine will in Psalm 33:10-11(KJV) “The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth forever, the thought of his heart to all generation”. Bearing this in mind we are to remain immovable when people begin to plan and take counsel to thwart God’s will concerning us. As a Christian we must stand firm on the foundation of God’s word, which is His will and counsel. What the word of God declares is God’s will and counsel about our life and no force of hell can change it if we abide in Him. No matter the power of any satanic and occult incantation and enchantment against us it cannot stand for the bible says, “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel:” – Numbers 23:23a(KJV). In another place the bible talks about inability of any association against us to hold. “Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us” – Isaiah 8:9-10(KJV). These is the great assurance we have in Christ and we must cling to it by abiding in him and doing his will.
The power and the working of the word of God in us is what makes us different from other persons. In as much as God’s will and counsel is immutable we remain immovable by what is happening around us for “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed but abideth for ever” – Psalm 125:1(KJV).
My dear reader, it is possible that as you are reading this piece there is a consortium of evil being fashion against you. It is only God and abiding in Christ that destroy the wicked counsel of the enemy against your life. I therefore appeal to you today to seek refuge under his mighty canopy of love. God’s hand is extended to you to come and drink from the well of his presence and be eternally preserved.
Prayer: Father, thank you for your will and counsel concerning me is immutable. Give me the grace to always abide in you.
