Bible Reading: Isaiah 45 & 46: 1 Thessalonians 3
“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you” Isaiah 46:4 (KJV)
I see the above scriptural verse as God sworn commitment to always be there for His own. When a child is born, he is looked after and carried about mostly by the mother. He is ignorant of a lot of things in his environment. At the very early stage of development the child cannot differentiate between harmful objects and unharmful objects. The child depends absolutely on the parents for guidance and direction. The child at this stage can defecate on himself. However, as the child grows he drops some childish behavior. That same person that was regarded as a child grows up and gets married and takes up the responsibility of his life. In life circle, the once called a child becomes old and is now been helped to move around. All this development and circle of life are in God’s presence and with His knowledge. He protects and guides us from childhood to ripe old age.
He goes through with us in the threatening storms of life. He walks with us through the wilderness of life. He was there when we narrowly miss death. He was there in our most difficult times and our times of success. In our seemingly lonely and difficult times he comfort us with His Love. The Psalmist succinctly captured God’s love and care in Psalm 23:2-4 (KJV): “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Truly, He is our shelter in the time of storm. The above scriptures thoroughly capture the commitment of God to care for us all through life. God is our solid rock, we can lean on and hide under, from the terrible tempest of life. When we realize how true it is of the guidance and protection of our God we will declare like the Psalmist in Psalm 62:6 (KJV), “He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.” Truly, knowing of God’s commitment to bear and carry us through life should cushion us against anxiety and unnecessary worries. This is so because faithful is He that promised. God declares that all through our life to old age He remains as God, and promised to carry us, bear us and deliver us. When we put our trust and confidence on His exceeding great and precious promises we are then infused with His divine nature. Enoch acted in total obedience and trust and the bible says “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him” Genesis 5:24 (KJV).
Prayer: Father you are my rock, my salvation and my defence, I shall not be moved.
