Bible Reading: Amos 1,2,3; Revelation 6
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7 (KJVS)
Every Christian has heard from God at one time or the other. The challenge is how to continuously hear from him. How do you know you have heard from God? The Lord Jesus said in John 6:44 (KJVS), “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” Since every Christian must have answered the call to accept Jesus at one time or the other and the Lord said only God can call, then every child of God must have been called by God for him/her to give his/ her life.
So if you gave your life, it means you already heard God. There was an inspiration, a voice heard by you alone at that point that urged you to answer the call. That same voice will speak more often to you if you will be sensitive to the Spirit. If you take time to study the bible and while studying, you remain focused on that bible, you may hear a voice or just an inspiration to do some things or get a better understanding of what you are reading, that is the voice of God. All you need is to be sensitive such that whenever you get inspired or hears the voice, you take note of what is revealed to you. And as you pay more attention, you will begin to understand him more.
Sometimes it could be while you are listening to a sermon or doing your normal activity then a suggestion comes to your Spirit. It could also be a revelation to you in form of a dream when you sleep ( Daniel 2:1) or a vision while you are doing something else (Joel 2:28). For a vision, you may just see something as if you are watching a tv or movie when in fact you are not watching anything. So God will always reveal future events to his children as long as they are sensitive to the Spirit. Amos 3:7 (KJVS) says, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
However, the devil also reveals things. To differentiate the Spirit of God from others, you need to test whatever inspiration you have against the word of God. If it is contrary, it cannot be from God. 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJVS) says, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” So you need to be sensitive to your spirit whatever you do, whether awake or asleep.
Action Plan:
Praise God for a minimum of thirty minutes. While praising, be sensitive to inner inspiration today. Write it down and check its compliance with the word of God. If compliant, then try to carry it out.
