Bible Reading: Amos 4-6; Revelation 6.
Memory Verse: “For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” Revelation 6:17 (KJV)
Every man no matter his background, knowledge, race, status or spirituality will die. This is as certain as birth. As long as you were born, you will live and after sometime die. The question that should be on everyone’s lips therefore should be what happens after death. While a few have said they do not care, I think it does not show wisdom if someone is going to a different continent and he says because he has never been there, he would not be prepared for the journey. The least one expects from such a person is to find out from those who have been there and prepare based on the information provided so that he would not be caught unawares when he gets there.
Similarly, it is important that you ask for details from those who have been to heaven so that you can be prepared and the person that has been there and also came to the earth is the Lord Jesus Christ. He witnessed in John 14:2-3 (KJV), “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” He further stated in John 3:17-18 (KJV) that He was sent to save the world and anyone who does not believe in him is condemned already.
Now what happens to the person who is condemned for not believing in Jesus Christ? He will end up in hell fire. The description of the hell fire and the agony that such people would experience are clearly stated in the word of God.
It is important to note that the present world will be destroyed at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that destruction will take a period of seven years. During this period, there will be great tribulations that will happen on earth. Details of these are stated in the word of God and they are made explicit by the Lord Jesus himself in the book of revelation. Revelation describes various catastrophes that will occur in the years leading to the end of the world. They include causing war such that peace will elude the earth (vs 4); there will be famine that will cause the death of 25% of the world population and then there would be great earthquake and sun and moon would change, stars would fall down and all the people on earth would be terrified and run for cover requesting that the mountains and rocks should hide them from the wrath of the Lord Jesus!
But then they would be unable to withstand the horror, pains añd sorrow which is why John said in Revelation 6:17 (KJV), “For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” But the righteous would have been taken away from the earth before the day of God’s wrath! Those who were dead would rise up and those who are alive at the time will all rise up and meet Jesus in the sky while the unbelievers will be left on earth! ( 1 Thesalonians 4:15-17 ).
The pain and torment of those who are not in Christ, during the tribulation, even before they finally go to their destination of hell is so terrible that every effort should be made to avoid it. Are you born again? If not, you need to cry to the Lord Jesus to save you now by repenting of your sins and asking him to be your Lord and Saviour.
Prayer: Oh God my father, whatever it will take, let me end this race of life well and strong in Jesus name.
