Bible Reading: Psalm 53, Revelation: 9:11-21
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good” – Psalm 53: 1(KJV)
I tried to reason what on earth can make someone to say there is no God. I concluded that irrespective of your education and qualification, when you reject the existence of the Almighty God you are a fool. It is an act of high level irresponsibility for anyone to say there is no God. Such an impious attitude can only be said to be nothing but foolish. The whole of creation, the serenity, the systematic placement of all things, the orderly state of nature all attest to the existence of God. All invisible things, even the eternal power and Godhead are clearly seen by the visible things of creation. Romans 1:20(KJV) says: “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” It is therefore foolishness for any reasonable person to say there is no God.
Most times the thought that there is no God is borne out of the desire for people to live careless and uncontrolled lifestyles. It is a product of a reckless living or borne out of a disappointed trust in God. In any case it is nothing but foolishness considering that the hand of an unseen power can be seen in the orderliness of creation. Truly, foolishness as referred to in this scripture, is a product of a polluted, stupid, wicked, impious and vile heart. Most of the so called atheist lived a regretful life as they were opposed by the majority of humanity in their days, not for their intellectual contribution to society, but for their depraved and polluted belief that has the tendency of throwing human society into being morally degenerate societies. To the extent of their foolishness most of them such as Sir Francis Newport, Voltaire, Tom Paine, David Hume, Altamont, Ethan Allen, Thomas Hobbes, and many others in times of their affliction and death pleaded for mercy from God and regretted their atheism in their dying hour. It is wisdom to see the hand of God in His creation. It is even a higher wisdom to accept Him into your life through genuine repentance from sin. Wisdom requires that we get reconciled to God to avoid the rebellion of a non-belief in God.
Finally take counsel from this scriptures: “Therefore, my people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge; their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarge herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled; But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgement, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness” -Isaiah 5:13-16. Let the wise in heart know that whatever you think or believe does not obviate the fact of the existence of the Almighty God. Let me also warn that the coming of the Lord Jesus is very near, hence wisdom demands that we embrace the Almighty through His Son Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father, please help me to erase any foolish thought from my mind. Give me the heart that crave after you Oh’ Lord.
