Bible Reading: Proverbs 20: 1-30
“The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest and have nothing” – Proverbs 20:4(KJV).
The Almighty God set an example through His works at creation as a pattern everyone who wants to make something out of life to follow. God worked for six good days and rested on the seventh day. God frowns at indolence, and many are they that have chosen the sluggard way of life. We equally have in our world today a lot of prayer houses who do not balance prayer with hard work, hence making people misconstrue the position of God in the subject of prayer.
There are those who are busy looking for breakthrough and uplifting in life without a commensurate input from their end. The time they are supposed to prepare a proposal, they are engaged with something irrelevant. The time they are supposed to study for better positioning in life, they occupy themselves with something that is not in any way adding value to their existence.
There are times that we need to keep sleep away from our eyes just to be able to achieve certain set goals. “Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger” – Prov. 19:15(KJV). “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep. So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy wants as an armed man” – Prov.6:9-11(KJV).
Friends, I employ you to take counsel from the word of God. The bible has an array of men, who through diligence, hard work, and trust in God, received the blessings of God right at their duty posts. An example is Peter, who with his colleagues, had toiled all night, but caught nothing until the Lord Jesus Christ appeared and changed their story (Luke 5:1-7). Your case may be like that of Peter and his colleagues who had given up in their fruitless effort but being in their duty post attracted the presence of Jesus Christ, who turned their fruitless effort to abundant supply. It pays to be found at your duty post. The Lord shall prosper the work of your hand. Do not get into the camp of sluggards.
Prayer: Father, prosper the work of my hands in Jesus name.
