Topic: God hates wastes

Bible reading: 2 Kings14-16; John 6:1-21

Memory verse: “When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.” John 6:12 (KJV)

The kind of life enjoyed in the kingdom of heaven is what Jesus brought to us when He came to the earth. God creates everything for a purpose and from his ways we can tell He hates wastes. First, Jesus saw a multitude climbing the mountains to meet Him. He was moved with compassion because He knows the kind of strength needed to climb a mountain. Hence, His desire to feed them.

With five loaves and two fishes, He miraculously feeds thousands, yet the bible tells us, “When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost” John 6:12 (KJV). Jesus too, like His Father, hates waste. Hence His instructions in our focal scripture. Remember, when God created the heavens and the earth, because there was not a man to tend to the garden He kept rain from falling. Genesis 2:5 (NKJV) says, “before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;” Because there was no man to tend to it He stayed rain from falling so as not to waste the plants and herbs if grown.

The bible tells us God gives water only to the thirsty. “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dey ground;” Isaiah 44:3a (KJV). God will only make available to you that which you can handle even in your strongest of desires. He doesn’t like waste. He is concerned about His creations. He takes diligent care in clothing the lilies of the fields (Matthew 6:28-30) showing us how important His creations are to Him.

Are you wasteful or prudent in your dealings or affairs? No matter how hard one prays he must demonstrate the ability to handle that which he desires. Companies are not growing because of this waste issue. Businesses are struggling partly because of this issue. Deal with waste in every area of your life because God’s kingdom does not permit waste of resources.

Prayer: Father, I repent of every area I may have allowed waste unchecked in my life. Reveal these areas to me, LORD, so that I would walk in alignment with Your ways.
