Bible Reading: Amos 4, 5, 6; Revelation 7.
Memory Verse: “And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” Revelation 7:10 (KJV)
When you help people by giving them gift or advice that make impact in their lives, most tend to be grateful for a long time. This was my case with one of my lecturers in the University. He was my tax lecturer and he took interest in me and encouraged me to do well in his subject. Not only that, he supported me in my project which was also supervised by him and I ended getting A in both areas. I was quite elated and remain grateful to him. Now this is ephemeral. My BSc certificate is no longer being used by me as I am by the grace of God self employed but I am still grateful to my lecturer for believing in me. What should we then be doing to God Almighty who sent his only begotten son to die for us so that we may live and not perish!
Revelation 7:9-12 gives us a glimpse of what is done in heaven. Those who have conquered the world wore white robes and joined the twenty four elders and the four beasts to give glory to God singing in Revelation 7:12 (KJV), “Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” They are worshipping God to show appreciation for salvation. That is what those tribulation saints were saying in Revelation 7:10 (KJV), “And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.”
That is an example of what is expected of all those who have been saved by Jesus and accepted him as their Lord and Saviour. You should be praising and worshipping him regularly to show your gratitude. However such gratitude without a sincere heart is like an eye service. And God knows everything in our heart. So you need to ensure you worship him with a pure heart. Proverbs 22:11 (KJV), “He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.” Not only will you be a friend to the king but also to the king of kings! In fact, you will be blessed as stated in Matthew 5:8 (KJV), “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” So to show gratitude to God, you need to live a life of obedience and worship.
If you are doing anything you know is displeasing to God, you need to stop now and ask God for mercy and grace not to go back to such things anymore. Remember Proverbs 28:13 (KJV), “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Action Point:
Make it a point of duty to worship God daily for a minimum of thirty minutes.
