Topic: Cleansing with the blood of Jesus
Bible Reading: Amos 7-9; Revelation 7.
Memory Verse: “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Revelation 7:14 (KJV).
Cleansing means purifying, making clean; purging; removing foul or noxious matter from or freeing from guilt. The intention is to make the object being cleansed to be as if the thing that contaminated it never occurred. Thus, a sinner gets freedom and his record of that sin is completely obliterated. His record is cleansed such that it does not have any trace of that sin any more. This is what the blood of Jesus does for every sinner who accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and asks for forgiveness of his sins.
The power in the blood of Jesus is seen by its transformative function. This is shown in Revelation 7:14 (KJV), “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” The blood which is physically red cleansed a robe and makes it white! This shows the level of transformation. It is important that though the physical form is seen, this in itself would have been preceded by the internal (spiritual) transformation. The heart of any true convert of Christ is first transformed and this leads to the physical repentance. This is why the fruit of the Spirit is Joy, love, peace, longsuffering, goodness, gentleness, meekness, faith and temperance show in the life of a true believer after accepting Jesus for a while. The fruit is a manifestation of the internal transformation of the convert. That is the source of the general saying that we shall know them by their fruit!
Looking at yourself, would you say the internal transformation has really taken place in your life? Does your living produce the fruit of the Spirit stated above such that people who see you will testify to your transformation because your behaviour will be white like the robe mentioned in Revelation 7:14.
But if you are still exhibiting a life controlled by the flesh such that the works of the flesh as stated in Galatians 5:19-21 like adultery, idolatry, envying, murder and drunkenness amongst others are still manifest in your life, then you have not been cleansed by the blood of the lamb and your robe is still stained you need to cry to the Lord Jesus, repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive and wash you with His blood.
Prayer point: Father please cleanse me and make my robe white with the blood of Jesus Christ.
