“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes’’ Judges 17:6(KJV)
Imagine a society without leaders, anarchy will set in. The confusion, lawlessness and anarchy we see in our society today are the result of weak leadership and in some cases collapsed or failed leadership. That we have people with leadership titles or people occupying leadership positions does not mean we have leadership.
We have a peculiar case in most African countries where people struggle, fight and kill to grab power but such power so grabbed is merely for intimidation, selfish ambition and amassing of wealth. One cannot claim to be a leader where he gathers tugs to kill the people he is meant to lead. No wonder we have failed society where everyone does whatever he wants with impunity becoming the order of the day.
The family and other institutions that should mould the society are fast failing. All these are reflection of the church. The church is the conscience of the society but leadership failure in today’s church has become an object of mockery in our national dailies and in the social media. Rituals, occultism, divorce, immorality and all sorts of abuse and manipulations have become so rampant in Christian ministry today. There is no more order; everyone does what he likes and no one to regulate the activities. There is an urgent need for a state of emergency to be declared in today’s church. A situation where no one accounts to anybody, everyone becoming unruly is not healthy for the church. There is a dare need for leadership so that decency, order and the fear of God can return to the church. The church today is seriously sick. Nearly every move is abused and bastardized.
The prosperity move, which is meant to bring the church out of poverty so she can reach the world for Christ suffered serious abuse because of greed and love for money. The move of the miraculous and signs and wonders soon became fetishism and manipulation. The current prophetic move has turned to something else, which if not checked, could create more confusion than it is doing presently. The deliverance ministry is another move that has been bastardized.
Today, the absence of leadership is telling more on the body of Christ, everyone seem to be consumed by his own denomination and engaged in unhealthy competition to have the largest church auditorium or the largest fleet of private jets. One wonders where the church is heading. One thing is certain and that is our hope, Christ will build his church and present to the father a perfect church without spot or wrinkle.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, raise spiritual leaders in our nation in Jesus name
