…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 16/9/2016

“And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God” 2 Chronicles 14:2(KJV).

The above testimony speaks of the action of King Asa who is of the lineage of king David. To do that which is good and right as a king in the eyes of the LORD God sets an individual apart as someone that is humble obedient. It takes the humble heart to seek after God and completely depend on Him. The above statement is a concise summary of the life and activities of a king who went all out to stand for God in all his deeds. Asa the king followed after David the King. The bible says in Proverbs 20:7(KJV) “The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him”. We can see the fulfilment of this scripture in the life Asa who is a great grandchild of King David. David lived to please God, the same can be said of Asa, lived and acted on God’s commandment. He did a lot to honour the God of his fathers. He took concrete steps to ensure that worship of idols was frustrated by removing the altar of the strange gods, took away the high places, break down the images, cut down the groves and commanded Judah to do the law and the commandments. Asa followed the God of his fathers diligently and the LORD helped him and delivered him from his enemy.

We must take our example from Asa who though is a king he sought after God and God honoured him. It is required of us in order to attract the help of God in our life and get Him to fight our battles we must of a necessity tear down and remove every altar of strange gods in our life. We must remove the idolatrous images that has taken the place of God in our life. One of such terrible gods is the god of money that is been worship day in day out. We must make God first. Whatever comes first before God is an idol. We must be committed to serving and pleasing God. We must live a sanctified and consecrated life. We are admonished by Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:10(KJV) “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God”. Remember that the bible said you were created for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11), is your life pleasing to him.

Prayer: Father grant me the grace to live all my life pleasing you.
