“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.” – Psalms 75:6 (KJV)
Promotion means many things to many people. it is something we all look forward to, whether in our jobs, line of work, carriers, even students look forward to be promoted after meeting certain requirement by man. But there is a promotion that comes from God alone that takes you to your purpose of coming to the earth.
Every man will like to move to a more important level, or rank, or position. Students desire to move to higher classes. But, most times, we look up to the wrong source for promotion and upliftment from our present position. There is nothing wrong in asking to be remembered, but some persons go as far as trying to be nicer than they really are just to be in the good books of the man perceived to be in charge of promoting staff at the work place. Some even try to bring others who are more qualified down so that they can get the nod, and so many others.
Just when Joseph was supposed to be promoted for his good works in the house of Portipher, the devil struck with the assistance of Portiphar’s wife, and Joseph was taken to a prison. But God was with him.
Joseph interpreted the dreams of the cupbearer and the baker, who were both in the prison with him, and told the former to remember him when he is restored. The cupbearer forgot until God stepped in. Man may forget but God never forgets. God remembered Joseph and gave the king a dream that no man could interprete except Joseph. He interpreted the dreams, and by divine intervention, was promoted from a prisoner to the Prime Minister position in Egypt, lower only in authority to Pharoah.
Joseph attributed it all to God; even the ability to interpret dreams. He told Pharoah in Genesis 41:16 “..It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” Always look up to God in everything you do, and He will promote you. The beautiful part of God’s promotion is that He makes it beautiful in his time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
