BIBLE READING: Leviticus 21, 22; Mathew 28
“And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, saying, say ye, His disciple came by night, and stole him away while we slept” – Mathew 28:12-13 (KJV).
Several moves have been made by people in place of authority to stop the gospel ranging from lies and propagandas, attempts to buy off gospel space, burning of the Holy Bible, persecution and death threats to even killing of missionaries and Preachers. Massive burning of churches and church properties, Government policies against the spread of the gospel.
As powerful as all these could be, none of them have been able to silence or stop the gospel. Rather than weakening the gospel, all these attempts have ignited fresh passion in preaching the gospel. The death of a preacher becomes a seed for great awakening of the preaching of the gospel.
The elders, The Pharisees and the Scribes gave huge sum of money to the soldiers to lie that the disciples came in the night to steal the body of Jesus but unfortunately for them, that lie could not sell because nothing, and no one can stop the gospel. No gate of hell has ever and will ever prevail against the gospel.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be passionate about the gospel.
