Bible Reading: Psalm 116
“Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.” – Psalm 116:2 (KJV)
God is ready at all times to attend to your needs. That’s why he said in Psalm 50:15 (KJV): “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”. So he is ready to attend to our needs and bless us so that we can praise him the more. It is not only in times of trouble that God expects us to call on him. In everything that we do, he expects us to call on him and he promises to open our eyes to things we never knew about so that we would understand the dimensions of his answer to us. Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV) says: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
So, for better understanding, we need to call on God. He recognizes that you do not know a lot of things that affect you and your environment but he is ready to reveal the secrets to you if only you will ask him. Thus in calling on him, he promised to answer your requests and do much more by revealing secrets to you (Jeremiah 33:3). With such secrets, you will be in a position to take decisions to avoid dangers, to get information necessary to take some critical decisions concerning your lives, homes, businesses, ministry and relationships amongst others. The more you call on him, the more he will show himself and reveal things to you.
The interesting thing is that God is ever ready to hear you and is actually expecting your call. The Psalmist stated in Psalm 116:2 (KJV): “Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
How then do you call on him? By offering thanksgiving as stated in Psalm 116:17 (KJV), “I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.” And also by praising him; Psalm 116:19 (KJV) says: “In the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.” By worshipping God Luke 4:8 (KJV): “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Then by Prayer in understanding ( Phil 4:6) and prayer in the Spirit (Rom. 8:26).
It is therefore imperative that we call on God regularly as he expects us to do so. Hence the bible says 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) “Pray without ceasing.”
Action point: Call on the Lord today by thanking, praising and worshipping him for one hour and wait for his response.
