Bible Reading: Psalm 141:1- 10
“Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” – Luke 18:17 (KJV)
A few days ago, someone in my office told me how his daughter was not allowing him to sleep and he punished her. The baby cried for some minutes and a few minutes later, she tapped him and said “daddy, I want to sleep.” He said the way the baby spoke made him feel so bad for punishing her. Why? because in her innocence she had forgotten that daddy punished her and was already relating with him as if nothing happened earlier.
That is the way God expects us to relate with him. Jesus said in Luke 18:17 (KJV): “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” Also Apostle Paul stated in Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV), “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
So we should forget the good, the bad and the ugly we’ve done in the past and focus on how to win the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. What you did last week, last month or last year is not as important as what you are doing now. What will Jesus meet you doing if there is rapture today? So many are leaving on past glories; past anointing; past service etc. This is understandable because when you switch off your cooker, it will still remain hot for some time based on earlier heat. Thus some rely on what God had used them to do in the past or relying on their image of the past when they lived upright. A number of people may not know how far you have gone off track but God knows and you know!
Fortunately, our God gives us a second chance to amend our ways by confessing our sins, forsaking them, restituting where necessary (after taking proper counsel), and living a life of obedience. All these will lead to loving God and relating with him like a little child. How do you relate with God?
Prayer: Father, help me to show love and exercise faith like a child in every area of my life in Jesus name.
