…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 17/06/2019

Bible Reading: Nehemiah 7-9; Acts 3.

“That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many” – Nehemiah 7:2 (KJV).

To be faithful means to be consistent and committed mostly to a cause, and this tends to rub off in every area of such a person’s life. Faithful people are difficult to find. Proverb 20:6 says, “Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Faithful people are few but are available.

Nehemiah, by the leading of God chose two men to look over the city; Hanani his brother and Hananiah, a faithful man who feared God. But he gave Hananiah charge over Jerusalem for His faithfulness and fear of God. Most people today will rather put their brother in charge even if he is less qualified, but Nehemiah followed the scriptural principle of selecting leaders and overseers in God’s work (1 Timothy 3:11).

Being faithful to God is key to being faithful in all things. Joseph was committed and consistent to a God he cannot see and ended a prime minister. David was so committed to God he could not stand Goliath’s insult on God’s people. He became king. Who and what are you committed to and consistent in doing?

Prayer: Father, I ask for Grace to be faithful in my walk with you.
