Bible Reading: Isaiah 62-64; 1 Thessalonians 5
Memory verse: “Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
Have you ever wondered why we pray? Why is prayer so important? Prayer is a communication between man and God where man reminds Him of His will and He in turn gives a reply by bringing to pass that which He says He will do. No matter how good and noble your ideas, only His purpose shall come to pass. Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) says, “you can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.”
Life on earth is all about knowing God’s will and asking in prayers that it be done. In the model prayer, Jesus taught His disciples to ask for God’s will to be done on earth as it is being done in the heavens (Matthew 6:10). Psalm 33:11 (KJV) says, “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.” He will never change His plan for anyone. God will not do anything outside His will.
God has appointed prophets and faithful intercessors who never stop praying for the establishment of His kingdom on earth. In Isaiah 62:6-7 (NKJV) He tells us, “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, [7] And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” As you get to know His will, continually remind Him of His word and His promises and give Him no rest until He brings it to pass. That is why Paul admonished us to “Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV).
God answers prayers. But He only answers prayers in line with His will. 1 John 5:14 (NKJV) says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” But you are to continually remind Him of this will of His in prayers for Him to hear you.
Action Plan: Find out the will of God on every area of interest and begin to pray continually according to such.
