TOPIC: COUNT ON GOD’S LOVE
Bible Reading: Isaiah 62-64, 1 Thessalonians 5
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:31 (KJV)
One of the greatest confidence boosters for the believer is the unconditional love of the Father. It is that assurance that God will forever stand in our defense regardless of the situation. He has assured us in His Word, “… I will never leave you nor forsake you” Hebrews 13:5 (KJV). Your greatest security as a believer is the Father’s love.
God told the children of Israel in Isaiah 54:8 (KJV), “ In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer”. God became our Kinsman redeemer in Christ Jesus when He was born of the Virgin Mary. He took on flesh and lived among men like a man to qualify as man’s redeemer (John 1:14). While on that cross, the anger and punishment necessary for the Father’s justice to be met came upon Him and He paid the full price for man’s sin and wrong. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, the Father by covenant looks upon mankind with EVERLASTING kindness today. It is ‘everlasting’ because time and events cannot affect the quality or quantity of God’s love.
In Isaiah 54:9 He assures our hearts of this unconditional love by saying, “For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.” God has sworn never to allow the waters of judgement – anger and rage – to consume you ever again. This is your greatest security.
When our text says “… if God be for us…” it is referring to the Father’s protective love for His children because life is not void of challenges and trying times. There is evil in this world but that does not mean that we should be afraid as believers. The Bible says that God is FOR us because of His great love for us.
In Psalm 136:10-24 we see God drying up seas, slaying famous kings, and bringing great deliverance to the children of Israel all because He set His love over them. His love indeed protects us. Constantly keep your confidence in the love of God for you and remain unafraid by whatever news you have flying around you.
When we say that God is for us, we are saying that God’s love has been set over us as a canopy. This canopy is impenetrable by evil or wickedness. Your safest dwelling place is in the love of God. When situations and tongues rise against you, don’t allow the devil to tell you that God is angry or mad at you, rather keep your eyes on the unfailing love of God that never quits and faith in His love always turns around any situation.
Prayer: Thank you Father for Your unconditional love for me. I can do all things through Christ Jesus.
