Bible Reading: Amos 7, 8, 9; Revelation 8.
Memory Verse: “And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.” Amos 9:14 (KJV).
There is so much joy in restoration. Some years ago, My company decided, by the direction of the Holy Spirit, to engage in turnaround management of dying companies. And the first company we engaged was a milling company and it was a successful deal. When we finished, the factories that were almost dead came back to live, new jobs were created and the company made its contribution to the GDP of the nation. To say I was happy is an understatement. It was a humbling experience and our company made a good profit from the deal. You can then imagine what will happen to those who rebuild the waste cities among others.
Amos 9:14 (KJV) says, “And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them ; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.”
This is the promise of God to the Israelites that have repented and come back to him. And if you are a child of God who is currently committing sin against the will of God, you need to repent so that God can be pleased with you and so turnaround your captivity such that your business or work that has not experienced any appreciable progress may begin to move in the right direction. Also things that had been taken away from you wrongly may be restored to you and your abandoned project may see the light of the day again.
Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” God is ready to show you mercy and turn things around for your good if you are ready to confess your sins to him and forsake them. As you amend your ways with God, He will make way for you in your wilderness and bring you water in your desert in Jesus name. It is however important that you do not go back to such sins anymore once you have repented of it.
Prayer point:
Father, give me the grace to make my ways right with you at all times in Jesus name.
