Bible Reading: Obadiah 1; Revelation 8.
Memory Verse: “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” Obadiah 1:17 (KJV)
A lot of Christians are not where they should be because they have not possess their possessions. And the word of God is quite clear on the way forward on this. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” As a disciple of Christ, the condition for getting what belongs to you is to live a righteous life and place God first in all that you do. God says in 1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV), “Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
You need to honour God by living a life pleasing to Him which is a life of holiness. A number of professed Christians are very religious but not obedient to God’s words. They go to church regularly, sometimes attending week day services, some serve as workers in the church while a number occupy leadership positions such as pastors, evangelists , apostles and even General Overseers but do not live in obedience to God’s words. Some of these who are even used as instruments for performing miracles arrogate the power to themselves and not to God Almighty knowing well that God will not share his glory with anyone! This is why Jesus said clearly in Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV), “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” I pray that you will not end that way in Jesus name. However to end well, you need to live Holy every time believing that Jesus may come any moment.
Therefore to possess your possessions on earth, you need to deliver yourself from all forms of wickedness and live a holy life as it is stated in Obadiah 1:17 (KJV), “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”
Action Point: Examine your life and repent of anything staining your garment of obedience.
