…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Psalm 103:1- 22

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies” Psalm 103:2-4(KJV).

The benefits we get from God on daily basis is enough for us to praise him hourly all the days of our life. We should develop an intimate relationship with our God like the Psalmist who prays to God three times daily (Psalm 55:17) and praises God seven times a day: “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgment” – Psalm 119:164(KJV). When we consider all that God has done for us we will declare like the Psalmist: “Bless the LORD O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. The psalmist stated some of the benefits which we will further elucidate on:

  • Forgives all our iniquities. Truly God has taken time to remove our sins far from us by the blood of Jesus that was shed at the cross. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” what a fathomless love of God.We are justified by his blood (Romans 5:9). He is truly worthy of our praise for taking our place of sin and suffered the inherent humiliation for our justification.
  • Heals all our diseases. His word bears record to the fact that his suffering was for our healing. He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. He was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5). 1 Peter 2:24 says about him “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.” Our healing is guaranteed in Christ Jesus.
  • He redeems our life from destruction. On daily bases, God saves us from one accident or the other. In some days, we narrowly miss being killed by a vehicle or any other object. God delivers us daily from mishaps that could have destroyed us. However, above all, the bible says in Romans 5:9-10(KJV): “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
  • He crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies. Truly God’s mercies are tender and it stems from his deep love for us. See what the Psalmist says in Psalm 51:1-2(KJV): “Have mercy upon me, O God according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.” God’s mercy is a product of His lovingkindness. It is God’s love that produces the multitude of his tender mercies. Great are his tender mercies (Psalm 119:156). God’s love and his mercy marks us out with a crown of peace upon us. His mercies endures forever.
  • He feeds us well and gives us Longevity. God on daily basis provides and blesses the food on our table. He nourishes us for longevity having promised that he will fulfil the number of our days. “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren in thy land: and the number of thy days I will fulfil” -Exodus 23:25-26(KJV).

Prayer: Father, thank you for your wonderful benefits that you load me with daily.
