Bible a Reading: 2 Chron. 15; 1Thes.1:1-10.
“But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.” – 2 Chronicles 15:4 (KJV)
I was born into a Muslim family. My father was an Imam and my mother an Alhaja. My father was very passionate about Islam and he sent all his children to the local Islamic school where we were thought Arabic language and reading of the Quran.
However after he built his house, we moved away from the town and went to a suburb of the town where there were no Islamic scholars around. Though he made us to go to the town for our Arabic lessons, the various threat to life at that time made him stopped our learning for a while.
However our education took most of us out of the town to other towns and cities and that truncated our continuous learning of Arabic. Nonetheless I remained a Muslim and kept observing my prayers all through my days in the University and even for several years after graduation.
But one day, I felt a big lacuna in my life, though I was a management staff of a merchant bank with a loving family. Yet I felt there was something about God I needed to know. So one Sunday, I woke up and went to a Pentecostal church near my abode. I listened to the message but it sounded too solemn for me and I went home after the service unsatisfied.
The next Sunday, I went to another church nearby and I felt at home with that and that’s how I started going to church. Later I joined the Believers Class and on the last day of the program, I was baptised in the Holy Ghost and I was so drunk in Him such that when others stopped speaking in tongues, I couldn’t. I spoke for over an hour before I could stop.
I sought the Lord with all my heart as I felt there was something that I did not know and God Almighty revealed himself to me inspite of my background.
So it does not matter what your background was, Jesus is ready to reveal himself to you and cleanse you of all forms of unrighteousness. 2 Chronicles 15:4 (KJV) say, “But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.”
God is ever ready to take on anyone that seeks him. No wonder he says in Matthew 11:28 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Prayer: Father locate me today and reveal more of yourself to me in Jesus name.
