Bible Reading: Psalm 56; Revelation 12: 1-17
“And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” -Revelation 12:11 (KJV).
Believers are overcomers in Christ. We are not called to fight the devil in order to overcome, Jesus already defeated and disarmed the devil and now calls us to triumph in him. It is unfortunate that today, out of ignorance and lack of knowledge most Christians see spiritual warfare as a battle with satan in other to gain victory. The truth is that we do not war to gain victory but we fight from the place or position of victory. The word of our testimony is the victory that Jesus won on the cross for us. Our battle is a battle of truth against the lies of the devil. It is a constant reminder to the devil of his true position and our new position in Christ; that is the sword of the spirit – the word of God. We have to know what is written concerning us and remind the devil of what is written concerning him and his fallen position.
The devil accuses us before God but the blood that Jesus shed speaks on our behalf. It is not for us to continue to sprinkle or shed the blood of Jesus in order to defeat the devil or to spoil his works; Jesus has shed the blood already and has spoilt principalities and powers making a show of them openly for all to see. Our part is not to sprinkle the blood but to declare our place of victory; this is the word of our testimony. Ours is to know who we are in Christ Jesus, what we have in Christ and what we can do in Christ Jesus. Ours is to take our rightful place and rebuke or resist the devil whenever he tries as an opportunist to encroach into our territory.
Our victory is not our ability to plead or shed the blood but our stand and declaration of the word of our testimony, which is what God’s word says concerning our place of victory in Christ and satan’s defeat. This testimony that we have been forgiven, redeemed, healed, prospered and delivered frustrates satan’s accusations.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for our victory in Christ Jesus.
