TOPIC: FOCUSING ON THE FINISHED WORKS OF JESUS
Bible Reading: Leviticus 26-27; Mark 2
“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;” – Revelation 5:8-9 (KJV)
Prayer is a vital part of the believer’s life because it is one of the keys to walking and living the supernatural life. This is why it is important as New Testament saints to know how to pray in order to be effective! As believers we pray from the standpoint of victory and not to victory. This is why knowledge is very vital because prayer can never take the place of the knowledge of God’s Word.
Paul prayed for the saints in Colossians 1:9 saying, “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” The ‘will of God’ is what God has accomplished for you in the finished works of Jesus and to be ‘filled’ actually means to be settled or established. In prayer, we must be established in the finished works of Jesus. Know from God’s Word what has been accomplished for You! Know who you are and know what you have in Him.
In our text in Revelations 5:8 the Bible says the Elders fell before the Lamb. To ‘fall’ is to submit. Prayer is primarily submitting and focusing on the finished works of Jesus. Prayer in the New Testament begins with acknowledging in your heart what Jesus has done. See the Lamb slain fot you. See His victory as your Victory! Visualize with your mind the sacrifice on the cross. See His strength as your strength. When you begin to pray like this, you begin to tower high above situations. You will sense the current of His Spirit surging through your spirit as you walk with the note of victory.
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus for Your finished work on the cross. I boldly declare that I am more a conqueror, and I am walking in victory in every area of my life.
