TOPIC: ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE ABOUT GOD AND HIS GOODNESS IN YOUR LIFE
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 20-22; John 6:45-71
Memory verse: “And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not” 2 Kings 20:13 (KJV)
Giving God glory is one act that God never overlooks and testifying about His goodness is another that gladdens his heart. Testimonies are different from good occurrencies. Testimonies are usually proceeded by the word of God. Hezekiah was sick and Isaiah told him to prepare for his death. But Hezekiah prayed. The LORD said to Isaiah, “Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD” 2 Kings 20:5 (KJV). God answers prayers.
The bible tells us, “At that time, Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick” 2 Kings 20:12 (KJV). When they eventually visited, the Babylonians met a healthy Hezekiah who by the word of the LORD has recovered from the boil that would have led to his death. Yet, the bible didn’t record Hezekiah telling the visitors about the goodness of God.
Instead the bible says, “And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not” 2 Kings 20:13 (KJV). Hezekiah would have been the first to introduce the Almighty God to the Babylonian instead of Daniel and the three hebrews. Rather, he esteemed his personal possessions more than the God who gave him the possessions. And this brought a curse upon his sons.
Give God glory at all times. Tell people about His goodness as gotten from His word. Never let a single testimony go unshared especially to people who don’t believe in God. Use the opportunity to share Jesus finished work on the cross with them. Through your testimony this people will start thinking about Him and He will take it over from there.
