Bible Reading: Nehemiah 10-11; Acts 4:1-19.
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” – Acts 4:13 (KJV).
It takes boldness to truly walk with God. Because Christians are no part of the world but in the world, their faith and exploits tend to be questioned by the world. It takes bravery, courage and confidence to answer this unbelieving world.
Boldness comes from our believe in, and knowledge of Jesus Christ and all He did, with the support of the Holy Ghost. Jesus knew His disciples would face trial of Faith (John 16:2) and promised them utterances (Luke 21:15) and comfort in the person of the Holy Ghost (John 16:7). Trials, though not looked forward to by many Christians, bring God glory as we remain in the faith proclaiming Jesus to the world. Though the world meant it for our shame, it ends in testimony to us (Luke 16:13).
The Apostles’ boldness encouraged the others and brought unity much more among the disciples. Standing up for Christ in unpleasant situations will strengthen the faith of others and brings glory to God, who wants the message of the gospel to go round the world so that all men could be saved.
Prayer: Father, I engrace me with boldness in my Christian life.
