Bible Reading: Nehemiah 10 & 11; Acts 4:1-19
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” Acts 4:13 (KJV).
The transformation that occurs when we have been with Jesus is always amazing. That transformation is because we have been translated (Colossians 1:13). If all knowledge originated from the creator of all things, can the custodian of all knowledge therefore be unable to transmit knowledge to His children? The boldness of the Apostles unsettled the authorities and the only answer they can provide for this is that they have been with Jesus.
The bible says that “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion” Proverbs 28:1 (KJV). Boldness is a product of righteousness. There is no way the Apostles could have been with the King of righteousness (Hebrews 7:2) without being rubbed off with righteousness? Righteousness begat righteousness. The Apostles had taken on the breastplates of righteousness so the attributes of righteousness will definitely be seen in them.
The life of the Apostles is an attestation that God does not need the so called educated men to execute His will on earth but a willing and submissive heart. The so called “ignorant and unlearned” men marvelled the educated authorities with their boldness and presentation. This is the fulfilment of the scriptures which says “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:” 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 (KJV). The ministry of Jesus on earth was full of wonders that even the so called authorities cannot deny. Hence. they took knowledge that the Apostles are product of the association and ministry of Christ.
In the same vein should our transformation, both in knowledge and boldness, threaten the very foundation of the world because we are product of Christ Jesus. We are ambassadors of Christ. We are the earthly representatives of the Kingdom of His Dear Son. We must exhibit boldness in all ramifications of life. We must declare the truth of the gospel with an unequal boldness and power. We must be good channels for the exhibition of divine love and power. Being ambassadors the laws of sin and death on earth has no effect on us for we operate in the law of righteousness and life.
My dear reader, Christ is the only name through which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). He is the only way to God the Father of all. I sincerely admonish you today to make haste and come to Him and be saved.
Prayer: Lord engrace me with boldness to declare you and your love everywhere I go.
