Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4-6; 2 Corinthians 10
Memory verse: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV).
The thought part of a person’s life reveals the real life that individual is living. All we manifest outside has first been processed in our thought. A man thinking good thoughts will be seen manifesting good fruits. A man thinking wrongly will manifest shameful things. Some people are manifesting the thoughts given to them by the devil.
Any thought that contradicts God’s word is of the devil. He’s bent on perverting everything God says. He does this by trying to influence our thought life. However, we are given what to do in Romans 12:2 (NKJV), “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Your thoughts are to take you closer to God and not the opposite. You conform to the world by walking with the established rules and ways of the world through the thoughts dropped in you by the devil.
The bible in Phillipians 4:8 (KJV) gave us a syllabus on what to think about, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” If what you are thinking about always is aside these then do well to start thinking about what you think.
The devil’s ultimate aim is to lead us to immorality and spiritual death through our thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV) tells us what to do if any thoughts contrary to God’s word is seeking to establish itself in our mind, “Casting down every imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” Steadfastly resist and reject evil thoughts in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, let the thoughts of my heart be acceptable in your sight.
