Bible Reading: Job 6; Hebrews 9:1-7
“But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people” – Hebrews 9:7 (KJV)
Worship in the First covenant had rules and regulations and an earthly sanctuary for worship. These external standards and rules for worship have brought only a limited access to God. So, the presence of the Spirit of God was only off and on. This does not make man perfect before God.
Those who are still worshipping God in the mode of the Old Testament, will end up being disappointed on the last day. How do you worship God today? Has He gained access into your heart or you are still engrossed with the pattern of the old. You should come to terms with the offer which the High Priest, Jesus Christ, has provided us with by His blood to gain access to the holy of holies.
Do not forget that faith in and acceptance of Christ as Lord and Saviour grants you a new heart (eternal standard) and unlimited access to God. By this, God becomes personally available to us, and we accountable to Him. Our relationship is no longer based on rules and regulations, but by grace, unlike what we notice some still practice today.
How are you worshipping God now? Is it according to the rules of the worldly sanctuary which cannot give the desired peace or by faith in the ever merciful and loving God who has granted us pardon by His grace.
Prayer point: O God, help me to know You and be able to worship You in spirit and in truth.
