Bible Reading: Jonah 1-4; Revelation 9.
Memory Verse: “Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord, and made vows.” Jonah 1:16 (KJV)
Whatever situation you find yourself, glorify God because He knows everything about you. If you are truly a disciple of Jesus, God will come to your aid and show Himself mighty. Thus, when Nebuchadnezzar decided that all his subjects should bow down and worship a golden image he made, God knew how to turn it around for his glory. The three Hebrew boys; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego decided not to bow down for the statue but to worship only the true God. The king was furious and decided to throw them into the furnace of fire but instead of them being burnt as expected by the king, they were walking majestically in the fire and Jesus joined them and revealed Himself to the king ( Daniel 3:12-25). This made the king to make a decree that proclaimed the supremacy of God Almighty. “Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.” Daniel 3:29 (KJV)
Similarly, in our Bible reading of today where Jonah was asked to go to Nineveh and cry against it for their wickedness, he felt God was too lenient and therefore refused to go but decided to go elsewhere. On his way, God caused the ship he boarded to face a big storm and after locating the problem to Jonah, the ship crew threw him inside the river and the storm calmed instantly (Jonah 1:14-15). Subsequently, the Bible reports in Jonah 1:16 (KJV), “Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord, and made vows.” So, God used the situation of Jonah to win more souls to Himself.
Also in John 9:1-2; The disciples of Jesus saw a blind man and they asked the Lord who sinned and “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” John 9:3 (KJV)
The situation in which you are and you are so troubled, be rest assured that you will not only come out victorious, Jesus will be glorified. All you need is to remain steadfast in your walk with him. However, if you are not born again, your situation may grow worse because God may not fight for you unless you surrender your life to Him and I urge you to do so now so that you can have the victory you require.
Prayer Point:
Father please glorify your name in my situation in Jesus mighty name.
