Bible Reading: Psalm 142:1- 7
“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.” – Joshua 10:8 (KJV)
.
Sometime ago, a man of God went to a town in the western part of Nigeria to preach on the anniversary of the King of the town. While in the church but before his message, the church members of the choir rushed to him that the most senior Ifa priest in the town and other senior traditionalists in their traditional regalia were coming into the church. They wanted to know where they should be seated. He said, he asked that they should be seated in the front row. For children of God, Joshua 10:8 (KJV) says, “And the Lord said unto Joshua, fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.”
Thereafter he went to the pulpit to share the word and he preached on the battle on Mount Camel. After the message, he told the church that his car was outside and if anyone could get one of his tires to be leaked supernaturally, he would follow his God but if no one could do it, then they should follow his God. By the time he finished the message, he made an altar call and to the surprise of everyone the head of the traditionalists, the Ifa priest was the first to give his life and other Chiefs followed him to surrender.
The king of the town was so surprised that after the service, he asked the man of God that they should go to the house of the Ifa priest to be sure he understood what he did. When they got there and asked him if he understood the message. His response was affirmative but he added that if the young man preacher could boast that much, he knew there must be a God behind him and that was why he surrendered to the God of the preacher and not the preacher!
This God was surely superior to any other god. Who is your God? Is he the one that others will see and bow? Is He the one who will back you up and frustrate the devices of the enemy over you or one who cannot defend itself talk less of you? The choice is yours, you can still align with Jesus and be on the winning side.
Prayer: Almighty God, you are my ally, please don’t ever leave me in Jesus name.
