Bible Reading: Isaiah 2:1-22
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day” – Isaiah 2:11 (KJV).
We live in a time where people exalt themselves and behave as if they are invincible. Pride, impunity and arrogance are displayed by many because of perceived wealth or positions. They live and speak as if they are in control of every factor of life. People use wealth and position to intimidate others because of the false confidence derived from their wealth and political positions. To such people, nothing else matters as much as display of wealth and affluence or positional power. They do all these ignorantly, to their undoing. They fail to realize that they have no control of their lives. Some even dare God, not regarding him as the source and sustainer of life. To many, God does not exist. Pride and material acquisitions have blinded them to life after here. Pride goes before a fall.
“Likewise, ye younger submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” – 1 Peter 5:5 (KJV).
To some, life is all about self. The flesh and carnal threats are promoted and the flesh is allowed to rule. All these display of pride, impunity and arrogance are clear manifestation of the flesh.
For a child of God, the body should be presented to God as a living sacrifice, dying to self is the secret of a humbled life. For Apostle Paul, this is evident “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away” – 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV). The way up is down. Anyone that exalts himself shall be abased but the one that humbles himself shall be exalted. “But he giveth more grace, wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble” – James 4:6 (KJV).
Ultimately, every one will recognize his place, for God alone shall be exalted in that Day of Judgment. Jesus has been given a name above every other name that at the mentioned of his name, every knee shall bow. All those who refuse to bow willingly to his Lordship now will have to bow by humiliation and awful fear on the Day of Judgment.
PRAYER: I bow my heart, will and knee to the Lord Jesus in obedient loving submission to his Lordship
