“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Having the form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”- 2 Timothy 3: 1-5(KJV).
Reading through the above scriptures one is convinced that we are actually in the last days. The holy book took time to enumerate the various negative attributes of men in the last days. It is worthy to note that these various attribute stated in today’s reading are the handiwork of the devil who is operating behind the scene. Satan will continue to multiply various negative attributes for the purpose of frustrating the advancement of the kingdom of God. The content of the above scriptures are prevalent in our today’s world. We have in recent times witnessed excessive greed and selfishness among men. We will state the number of negative characteristic that will dominate the behaviour of men in this last days:- 1. Selfish and greedy, 2. Proud, arrogant and boastful, 3. Ungrateful and unholy, 4. Blasphemous and disrespectful to parents, 5. Sexual perversion, 6. Covenant breakers and false accusers, 7. Lacking moral restraint or self control on sexual desires, 8. Violent, heady and despisers of good persons, Lovers of pleasure and Idolaters. These are the attributes of a reprobate, which will dominate the world at the emergence of the evil one.
To be forewarned is to before arm. Every symptom characterizing the last days are here. All the attributes of wickedness named above are increasing geometrically. There is breakdown of law and order in the society, actions of wickedness hitherto unheard of are becoming very common. Abominable acts are been committed very frequently and unchecked. Our society is gradually losing decorum and turning riotous. This is what makes the time perilous. It is a very terrible time in the history of humanity.
With the bombardment of evil what can someone do in this terrible and wicked times? The answer is to run to your Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. Here what the Psalmist says “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock” – Psalm 27:5(KJV). Again Psalm 31:20(KJV) says; “You shall hide them in the secret place of your presence from the plots of man; you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife on tongues” It is clear that in this perilous times when evil has multiplied beyond human imagination the only safe place is in God. A lot is happening across the globe. We must be prepared to stay alive and that implies that we run to the secret place of the Most High God. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. Abiding in the shadow of the Almighty is the only safe way to live in this era.
Jesus Christ is the eternal rock that can protect and keep you. You need the rock higher than you for your defense and protection. Dear reader, I hereby invite you to that unshakeable and ever protective rock, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Deliverer.
